HOW SAFE TEMPORARY FIREARM STORAGE SUPPORTS PARTNERING LOCATIONS
STFS provides insight and support to all parenting locations to launch their new location. Every location determines their comfort level and how STFS will work for them.
Contract Template
The Safe Temporary Firearm Storage program provides a template for all partnering locations to add their own letterhead and adjust the parameters of the contract to their comfort level and need. This contract is held between the partnering location and the firearm owner, not STFS.
Examples of what the contract template includes:
How long the firearm owner intends to have their weapons secured for.
Typically, this is a month, three months or up top six months
A secondary person to contact in case the owner cannot be reached
The owner may specify if this person can pick up their weapons on their behalf, or simply as a point of contact.
For gun shops, if they charge a rental fee, and how much, for the locker or gun safe at their facility.
Clearly defines the process for situations when weapons are abandoned and all attempts to contact the owner and back-up contact have been exhausted.

Each partnering location has its own unique opportunities and hurdles to find provide Safe Temporary Firearm Storage for their community. The STFS program lead can set up a meeting for a on-site visit to help launch and address any concerns a partnering location may have.
